Artist's Statement

"All of us are potentially creative whether we begin with words and finish with a story or start with fabric and sew curtains. Living is creative - loving is an art, and so are friendship, parenthood, and the ability to infuse grace and vitality into one’s daily round. Living creatively takes some of the same qualities as creating that story or that pair of curtains - enthusiasm, a sense of style, and , you might say, an ability to make demands upon one’s self. Above all, the creative woman is an individual. How she fulfills herself is a question each must answer in her own way."                                                                                Author unknown

I first read this quote while I was in high school and it continues to reflect how I feel about creativity. Creativity is important to me: in my work and in my ability to meet life’s challenges. All of us are creative. We each must find an outlet for our creativity.

My artistic inspiration revolves around the free association of color, images, and  the manipulation of digital fragments.  I literally carry a digital camera all the time, everywhere.  I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 to parse my images and recombine them to form a digital collage that is new and exciting.  Some of these images can have as many as 15 layers.  It is very much a free form activity.  I find good music, a cup of steaming hot tea and a quiet space essential for the creative process.
