| I was so impatient to be born, that I was
literally born on the hospital steps! With my two older brothers, I lived
in a former army barracks for two years until we moved to the New Jersey home I
grew up in. Although I always wanted to be creating "something", I never
considered art as a major. Rather, I eventually taught biology for sixteen
years and then worked in the substance abuse prevention field for ten. I
became an accomplished art quilter in my spare time. I dyed and silk
screened fabrics which I then used in quilts which were heavily
embellished with machine embroidery, appliqué, and whatever I thought would suit
a particular piece! Foiling and metallic paints were in! With early retirement came unlimited time
to learn Adobe Photoshop. I am totally hooked. I've printed
on fabric and canvas and have used these prints in art quilts. These quilts
weren't quite what I had in mind since I envisioned my graphics as being the
focal point and the prints I was able to make were too small. So, for several years, I have forsaken fabric and have focused primarily
on digital collages. Suddenly, I am
looking to commercially print my digital collages on fabric 36 - 54 inches wide
- a definite focal point! I
think the world of art quilts is beckoning me again! Where is that
metallic foil????
Although I am self-taught, I am pleased
to be able to say that my art has been in numerous juried shows and has been
awarded various honors; I have had several shows; and my work has been purchased
for numerous public and private collections.
